Worth setting expectations first: the market is structurally tough for junior candidates right now, and most full-time postings you'll see are aimed at senior researchers who can work independently from day one. That isn't a reflection on you — see getting hired in AI safety for why, and for what actually works instead.
In practice, a job board should be one of several things you're doing. Fellowships are the most reliable entry route, grants can fund your own project, and a personal recommendation from someone credible beats a cold application by a wide margin.
Worth remembering
Many roles in this field never get posted
A large share of people working in AI safety made their own role — they proposed a project, found a mentor or collaborator, and got it funded. The field rewards being entrepreneurial to an unusual degree.
So treat job boards as one channel among several, alongside conferences, fellowships, and grant applications. If nothing on a board fits you, that is information about the boards, not a verdict on your prospects.
